About the Charlotte Royals
The Charlotte Royals was established in 2004 offering an inclusive environment for all to learn the sport of rugby. We require no experience to join our membership and offer to train and educate all who attend practice.
The Scholarship
Royals Scholars receive a one-time payment directly to their college or university to cover tuition and fees. Typically there will be 2 scholarships of $1,000 awarded each year after the January 1 – June 1 application process. The scholarship will be dispersed to the school for the FALL semester. Applicants in South and North Carolina are reviewed based on financial need, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, participation in sports, and academic excellence.

500 word essay
1 letter of recommendation
List of relevant honors and extracurricular activities
Copy of transcripts
Timeline to submit is Jan 1 - June 1 deadline 11:59 PM. Royals Scholars will be notified August 1 and payment will be submitted to college or university.
An eligible applicant is:
An athlete (all sports and athletic activities qualify)
An open and self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or intersex person: or a demonstrated and committed ally;
A graduating high school student who plans to attend a recognized undergraduate college or university in North or South Carolina OR is an already matriculated US undergraduate college student in North Carolina or South Carolina
Have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
The ideal scholarship candidate will:
Have a clearly described need for financial support;
Be able to articulate their personal and professional goals;
Be involved in extracurricular activities with demonstrated passion and commitment;
Be a student athlete;
Demonstrate an interest in community service, advocacy, or volunteerism;
